I don’t know how many touches or hugs are needed per day, as if by prescription to maintain health, but I agree that touch is a vital way to be connected and that without it we shut down a part of ourselves that atrophies as a result. Absent touch, our sense of connection withers, and we become far more vulnerable to being run by fear. When we become afraid of one another, we become trapped in a truly vicious and self-destructive circle.’
